Happy Mother’s Day!

This devotional is dedicated to all you Christian women who diligently raise godly children according to God’s Holy Bible. You mothers, grand-mothers, aunties and sisters that deny yourselves; most especially who do not practice the sins of this world. You put God’s Word first in order to be a living example of the virtuous woman in all you say and do (Titus 2:3-5). You women are the true definition of the woman of grace and purpose. You complete your assignment of motherhood with godly pride and love. You birth and develop men and women of God who become good citizens and a great blessing to the Kingdom of God (Proverbs 22:6). Your legacy is the fruit of your womb and godly training. For this you can claim your victory and crown in Jesus! Amen.

In today’s society, this priceless title may not be popular due to all of the misinformation about motherhood that bombards us every day. However, without the guidance and love of a nurturing mother children will go astray (2 Peter 1:2-11). Children ill equipped to know right from wrong grow up to fill the jails, experience premature death, and bring harm to themselves and others. Their ungodly practices are taught and passed on to the next generation. This is how Satan keeps our children defeated—spirit, soul and body.

Children need the loving training that only virtuous parents can impart. For this reason, we take the time to celebrate and give honor to the wonderful mothers and other righteous women in our lives who strive to be women of godly principle and compassion. Thank you for being our mentors in Word and deed (Second Timothy 3:15). We love you all!

The definition of a mother is a female who gives birth to a child; gives rise to the child and provides protective care over the child. The Scriptures give us a worthy description of a godly mother that each Christian female should earnestly imitate. This description of an excellent wife and mother is recorded in the Book of Proverbs.

Proverbs 31:25-30:
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; and she smiles at the future [knowing that she and her family are prepared].
26 She opens her mouth in [skillful and godly] wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue [giving counsel and instruction].
27 She looks well to how things go in her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired); her husband also, and he praises her, saying,
29 Many daughters have done nobly, and well [with the strength of character that is steadfast in goodness], but you excel them all.
30 Charm and grace are deceptive, and [superficial] beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord [reverently worshipping, obeying, serving, and trusting Him with awe-filled respect], she shall be praised. (From the Amplified Study Bible Translation)
