I Am Not Ashamed!

Some 23-years ago, at the Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado a massacre shooting took place on April 20, 1999. The shooters were two twelfth-grade male students who murdered 12-students and one teacher. The shooters ultimately committed suicide, but not after injuring an additional 21-individuals. All of us felt the anguish of this evil incident and those like them since.

Then in 2016, Pure Flix Entertainment released a movie titled, “I’m Not Ashamed” chronicling the true story of Rachel Joy Scott who was the first student killed in the Columbine school shooting. For those of you who have seen the movie know that this depiction of the life and tragic killing of this teenager is both inspiring and encouraging to Christians everywhere.

I have often wondered if I would be so brave as Rachel in the same situation. Would I be able to revere Jesus as my Savior and Lord in the face of death? Or would I be like Peter who denied Jesus three times when confronted by those who condemned Jesus (Luke 22:54-62). I know for a fact that our God does not want us to die when sharing the Good News with others because Jesus has already paid the cost for our freedom with His life, death and resurrection (John 10:10).

However, each of us must choose to be vessels of clay that our God can use to speak the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ to others (Psalm 40:9-10). Are we strong in faith and not ashamed of the Gospel (Matt. 10:32-22; Mark 8:38; and Luke 9:26)?

Here is what Apostle Paul says,

Romans 1:16-17:

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,

Christians must take their godly assignment seriously and speak the Word of God in boldness and love. For it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ that penetrates and changes the lives of people in a positive way (First Corinthians 1:18; Hebrews 4:12). We have the solution to this dying world and the solution is found in the Gift of Salvation which Jesus has provided for every man, woman and child (John 3:16-21; John 8:12; and Acts 2:38).

Do we love God’s creation enough to share about Jesus with those who are headed to hell? Can God depend on you to be His witness here on earth through your words and actions (Second Timothy 1:8, 12)? Our Living God is looking for those Christians that are willing and able to share His Marvelous Light.
