THE HOLY SPIRIT: Our Helper, Guide & Comforter

Now that you are saved in Jesus, you have the awesome privilege to receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues. A divine language known only to the Heavenly Father and your recreated spirit.

After Jesus ascended to heaven following His resurrection from the dead God our Heavenly Father provided His Holy Spirit to be our Helper, Guide, and Comforter. It is with the infilling of the Holy Spirit, that Christians have the supernatural power of God to live and complete our divine assignments with victory here on earth.

Please do not allow false religious teachings keep you from studying and receiving this perfect Gift from God. Our Heavenly Father loves us and He would never give us anything or anyone that would hurt or mislead us. Here are some valid reasons why Christians need the Holy Spirit.

  1. Jesus instructs all of His disciples to receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:1-14). We need the Holy Spirit’s power, wisdom, and guidance to live “the good fight of faith” (Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49).

  1. The Holy Spirit is a divine person that lives in us (John 15:26; 16:13-14). He is the third person of the Godhead (Gen. 1:2, 26; Isaiah 11:2, 61:1; First John 5:7-8). He operates like a Field Representative (Acts 2:1-4). Jesus and the Heavenly Father are stationed and issue orders from heaven, while the Holy Spirit is in the earth-realm to assist Christians to carry out these orders.

  1. The Holy Spirit teaches us about the things of God (John 14:26). He is our Helper (John 15:26); assists, comforts, and tells us the truth (John 16:13-14). He will Guide us (Romans 8:14-16); Lead us (Romans 8:26- 28); Reveal the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:9-14); and Warns us (Acts 16:6-7), if we allow Him.

  1. The Holy Spirit is the same as God (Hebrews 9:14). He is eternal; omnipresence, all encompassing (Ps. 139:7-10). He performs divine works (Genesis 1:1-26). He makes the new birth in Jesus possible (John 3:5; Acts 2:38) and produces recreated spirits (John 1:12-13). He has the power to raise the dead (Romans 8:11). He raised Jesus from the dead; will raise us from the dead; and He dwells in us to give life to our mortal bodies.

  2. To receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit you first must be saved in Jesus (John 14:16-17). Being filled with the Holy Spirit is optional. Your willful act is required (Acts 8:14-17; Luke 11:9-13). Salvation does not hinge upon being filled (Rom. 10:9-10; 8:9).

  3. Why should Christians be filled with the Holy Spirit? (Acts 1:8; 2:14-21; 1 Cor. 3:9) God gave us the Holy Spirit, so we can fulfill His Great Commission (Mark 16:15-18). You must desire to be filled (John 7:37-39).

  4. Speaking in tongues requires our action (Acts 2:1-4; 10:44-47). You have a divine language after receiving the Gift (First Corinthians 14:2, 4, 14; Mark 16:17).
