Happy Independence Day
On July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress marking us as an independent nation. Today, two-hundred and forty-nine years later, we celebrate our existence as one of the leading nations of the world. We are thankful and commemorate all our brave men and women who serviced this nation and the many who gave their lives.
Our nation is not perfect, but its founding principles are godly and worthy to uphold. As you gather with your love ones to salute this day remember to pray for our nation and its leaders so that we may live a peaceful and prosperous life in Jesus Christ. This nation fought and shed blood to obtain our precious independence. In like manner, Jesus outright won our independence from Satan by shedding His blood and sacrificing His life for our victory over all that is demonic including death, hell and the grave (Ephesians 6:10-18). Christians, who know who they are in Christ are free from Satan and his vile deceptions (1 Peter 5:5-11). Our spiritual independence is safe in the everlasting covenant established in Jesus’ divine work (John 15:12-17; Romans 5:6-11).
Everyday let us continually honor our Savior and Lord Who has set us free from the penalty of sin which is eternal death (John 8:34-36). Here is a list of some of the ways that Jesus has empowered Christians through obedience to His Word to live in victory—spirit, soul and body.
• We have been set free from sin—Romans 6:19-23 Our salvation in Jesus cleanses us from the sin nature and reunites us to our Heavenly Father. As Christians, we have the authority to say “no” to sin and Satan.
• We are no longer spiritually dead—Ephesians 2:1-10 Before we came to Christ through the Gift of Salvation, we were spiritually dead and condemned to hell. In Jesus we have been made spiritually alive and guaranteed eternal life.
• We are masters over the evil desires of our flesh—Galatians 5:13-24 Christians have the character and attributes of Jesus our Savior and Lord. However, we must develop His attributes which are in us in seed form including love, joy, peace, forgiveness, kindness, goodness, patience, faithfulness, and self-control.
• We are delivered out of all persecutions and afflictions—2 Tim. 3:10-17 Worry and fear have no place in the life of the Christian because we can cast all our cares on Him Who cares for us. When we put our Lord first, He is obligated by His Word to protect and provide for us, no exception.
• We have the mind of Christ and are led by the Holy Spirit—1 Corinthians 2:9-16 We have a sound and perfect mind in Jesus Christ when we yield to doing God’s Word every day. Satan’s evil tactics do not work on us because we submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit Who knows the end at the beginning. Failure is not an option in Jesus! Amen.
