The Authority of Our Words

Here is a biblical law that you alone have complete responsibility over. This law can bring you an abundant, victorious life or kill you graveyard dead. And it all starts with your thought life and ends with your spoken words.

Let’s start at the beginning. After God created earth He created and gave Adam dominion, authority and power over all the earth and its contents (Genesis 1:26–28; 9:2). Adam was given the position of Mankind’s legal representative (1 Cor. 15:21–22). In brief, God created all of Mankind to be like Him—a leader, protector, and provider. God’s intent was never to rule the earth but rather gave rulership to His creation—Mankind.

Adam had the legal right to give or keep this God given authority by disobeying or obeying God’s commandment (Genesis 1:15–17). Once Adam disobeyed God by eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam gave his legal authority to Satan, and the curse of sin entered the earth realm. As a result, since then Satan has the legal right to rule this earth’s system for a season (Matt. 25:41).

The Good News is that those individuals who choose to accept Jesus’ Gift of Salvation have regained their authority over Satan in Christ. God clearly tells us that whatever we bind on earth will be bond in Heaven and whatever we loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven (Matthew 16:19 and 18:18–20). This binding and loosing are done through our faith words. We are the ones responsible for the matters of this world because we are the rulers of this world that God created for us. God can only intervene when we ask Him through prayer and or faith confessions which must be based on our covenant promises found in the Holy Bible.

We must keep Satan out of our lives.

1. Revelation 12:11: Do overcome Satan by confessing Jesus, as our Savior and Lord.

2. James 4:7: Do “submit to God,” which means do His Word.

3. Ephesians 4:27: Don’t “give place to the devil,” which means doing his evil works.

We are what we say on a continuous basis!

4. Luke 6:45: Good or evil comes from our heart and is spoken in words.

5. Proverbs 12:13; 13:3; 18:21: Death vs. Life.

6. Matthew 12:33–37: Our acts are directed by our words.

Jesus is our advocate or attorney in the high court of heaven.

7. Hebrews 3:1; 4:14–16: Jesus acts on our behalf, if we give Him a positive confession that lines up with God’s Word.

8. Jesus used words to defeat Satan and we should too.

Matthew 4:1–11: Satan tempts Jesus.

Matthew 8:16: Healed by a word.

Luke 4:36; 8:24–25: Jesus speaks to the situations.

We must stand on our faith confession come hell or high water.

9. Daniel 10:10–13: Daniel stands 21 days.

10. Matthew 8:5–13: The Centurion Soldier.

11. Mark 5:25–34: Woman with the issue of blood.
