O Death Where is Your Sting?

Autumn has begun, bringing us cool weather and beautiful colored Fall leaves. And we are thankful for it all! In the month of October, many children and adults celebrate Halloween or, in some cultures, the Day of the Dead. As Christians, however, we have an even greater reason to celebrate because through our Savior, we have been set free from the curse, death, hell and the grave. Hallelujah!

The Holy Bible tells us that death and hell have been swallowed up in victory. And the sting of death which is sin and the penalty of sin which is hell have been paid for through the precious blood of Jesus Christ (Romans 4:23-25; First Corinthians 15:54-56). Jesus has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the glorious Kingdom of God (Colossians 1:13).

However, there are still too many Christians defeated and living in hell here on earth because they do not understand that they are more than conquerors in Christ (Romans 8:31-39; Ephesians 1:19-23; Hebrews 7:22-25).

These uninformed Christians are beat-down-broke-down because they do not know that Satan and his evil assignments against us are null and void. Satan is not going to be defeated; he is already defeated. This is the victory that Jesus completed through His life, death and resurrection. Satan no longer has any legal authority, power or dominion over the Christian. First John 3:8 says, “…For this purpose the Son of God [Jesus] was manifested, that He might destroy [loose or set us free from] the works of the devil.”

Forewarning, if Christians want to live in the blessings of their Salvation we are going to have to know who we are in Christ. Therefore, it is the responsibility of each Christian to study God’s Word and then apply His Word to our lives to operate in His promises (Matthew 7:24-27; James 1:22-25).

There are still too many ignorant churches teaching that God is putting the trials, tests and temptations on His children. However, Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief [Satan] does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

You can be sure that if there is a situation in your life that is stealing, killing and or trying to destroy you it is not from our Heavenly Father. God does not need to try, test or tempt you because He already knows what you are going to do – remember He is omniscience (all knowing). You must recognize that the act of destruction is coming from the devil and come against the evil situation with the living Word of God.

This is why Jesus agreed to shed His blood and life for us. Second Timothy 4:18 says, “And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!”
